My Story
Who better to coach you than someone who has been down that same path as you have? Research shows an increase of success and effectiveness by up to 86% when you engage a coach versus going the road alone, using a do-it-yourself approach.
Would you like to get to the root of the cause that is holding you back from living your optimal life? Do you want to be the very best you can be and experience all you’ve ever desired and invisioned? Do you want to feel empowered to live your true purpose and a authentic life, every day but you have been either too busy or too fearful or just haven’t known how to achieve your Uber Empowered Self? Maybe you have encountered a time in your life when you had to go down a whole new direction than you never expected? How did you cope? I have been there. More than once. And this is why I wrote Uber Empowerment -To give you the tools you need to transform your life to operate at YOUR peak performance – YOUR Uber Best! Even during unexpected times. Let me share with you my story.
Several years ago, I had just gone through a divorce, I was searching for a way to move on in my life, in the most positive way. I quickly figured out running 10k races helped me set goals, have an action plan, train and focus. I felt more empowered and confident.I enjoyed seeing results from my consistant training. At the time I started writing Uber Empowerment, I was winning a lot of 10k races. I became familiar with how it feels to know you did your best at something and know that the results I see in my life are from all the choices I make. I was feeling pretty Uber!
A friend of mine was very curious as to what I was doing for my training. She encourged me to write a book about what was I eating, how often I ran – was it every day? How many miles a week? I thought about this and I couldn’t pin down exactly what to tell others to eat to win a race. I could only provide them with my personal experience and my professional knowledge in living a healhty lifestyle. I realized that it was much more than what I eat or how many miles I run; it was all about the right Mindset. I decided to put an e-book together. The title had not even been created yet, at this point.
I had started writing my book and gathering my research, when I came across a company I fully resonated with. This company was one of the top vitamin/supplement manufacturers. Even though I was currently happy at the place I was working, I knew there was more for me at this company. I have always had a natural interest in health and wellness and nutrition and exercise – Ever since I was 8 years old, I would read any book or magazine that was health related. I couldn’t read enough!
I decided to listen to my intuition and send my resume. They called me the next day and explained they wanted to talk with me. I discovered in the interview that the territory would be a hike of a commute every day. I thought it over – should I move closer to my territory? Not an option. I didn’t want to leave the beach. I contacted the manager I had met with and told her how much I felt I belonged with this company but the territory that was available was not going to work for me. She told me she wanted to contact me with in six months because she was trying to grow her team. I heard back from her in just two months. This was meant to be! I know what it feels like to listen to your intuition and to actually take action and make something happen. This is an empowering feeling.
The education and experience I was receiving in the corporate world, inspired me to do more research and learning on my own. There is a lot of information out there and it can get overwhelming! I tried various diets to see if they really would give me more energy or do what they promised. What I found was, there is just no one diet that does it for everyone. It takes time and experimenting but I truly believe that all of us will find the right nutrition plan for ourselves. We just need to listen to our intuition. I decided I wanted to share my knowledge with others in my book to inspire them to feel empowered in listening to their bodies needs, on a holistic level: learn to know exactly what you need physically, emotionally and spiritually and feel empowermed to take action!
So life is going pretty good right? Well, then I injured myself. The first time in my life where I was actually out of my game for 8 weeks minimum. The first two weeks felt wonderful to actually rest. Let’s face it, I was training pretty hard – probably overtraining. I had a fracture on my left foot. Well, as the weeks went on right around the third week, I became discouraged that I could not run during the recovery time period. I got impatient and frustrated by the third week. I actually got despressed for the first time. This experience was not much fun and thankfully, I have always been a person who, after feeling down for few days or so, I do something about it. I looked at this challenge in life as an opportunity to finish my book. The book began to grow! I decided to share my personal experience about my injury and how I was dealing with it. I know what it is like to have an injury for the first time – An injury that is so sever it puts you out of your favorite sport or activity for a length of time. I know what can happen during this time. Like, how easy it is to become discouraged and feel like you’re loosing your physical strength. I have been there and I have noticed how it effects your overall wellbeing. You no longer have your workout routine to look forward to each day that gives you that extra zest for energy through out the day. You can seriously have thoughts about how you will never be able to perform like you once did and thoughts such as: “will I ever recover from this injury”? Life can take on a different feel to it. This is really your perspective on life and the good news is, I have been there and I can inspire you to get through this recovery period. You CAN feel Uber again!
But there was another life challenge I had to face. There is more to my story. The company I was working with got bought out and all kinds of changes took place. I got layed off. Wow…what is next in Nancy’s life? What to do now? I immediately went to go work for a competitor. After all, that is the natural instinct – go fill the void in your life and continue to work in your industry, right? I discovered working for this competitor was not the same feel for me as working for the previous company. Completely managed differently. I lasted a year. I then knew I needed to find my True Purpose. I had an idea of what it was and through some deep thinking, I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I wanted to combine all of my education, knowledge and experience toward my purpose. I got certified as a professional coach and knew I had made the right decision. I also knew through out my whole being – my book must be completed.
My book began to grow – really grow – into a real book. Not just a short e-book. Now, I decided to create a Second Tier. Discovering your Authentic Uber Self. I wanted to help those who were in a transition in life as well as those who wanted to make a change or they had a great idea and yet they needed some guidance and motivation to make this idea a reality. In order to feel Uber Empowered, it requires a holistic approach. Especially, when we are in a transition in life. It is even more important to give yourself Self-Love through Nutrtion and Exercise that is unique for you and will allow you to feel your Uber Best. I discovered that when I take the best care of myself by living a healthy lifestyle, I can feel my best, think my best and be my best!
However, sometimes life can appear to be limiting us– especially when we’ve made the choice to go for that new and great idea or to choose to live our Authentic True Core Values in life. Our limited belief patterns hold on to us and keep us frozen; we feel we need to live up to other peoples definition of success and ignore what success truly means to us. All of a sudden, we stop being accountable to our action plan that we created. This is where I began Tier Three. I know what it is like to feel stuck, even though you know you have a great idea. I know what it is like to have written an amazing plan only to find you still need some support and encouragement. Is anything holding you back, if so what? Choose to embrace empowerment and I will provide you the tools and help inspire you, with each step, along your journey. Now is the time to Become Your Uber Empowered Self!

Hi,
I noticed that your approach is holistic, including spirituality, yet I didn’t see any testimony about spiritual transformation in your life. Being American I’m sure you’ve heard about Jesus, perhaps pass churches everyday and maybe even are friends with a Christian. However, I can’t help but ask… where’s the good news? You’ve nailed positive thinking, renewing one’s mind – that’s great stuff! Yet positive thinking falls short of salvation. The truth is that no matter how much you love and affirm yourself you are not God nor do you have His place on the judgment seat in Heaven. Positive thinking doesn’t provide a relationship with God nor does it give His saving grace through Jesus Christ who was sacrificed for our sins (transgressions against; violations of God’s commandments) Check this out! It’s good news! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gb7n9B_8m8

Bobby:
I’m glad you like the book. Being in between jobs is never easy. Having a job we don’t like can leave us feeling unfulfilled. Networking can help. There are a few different ways we can network. For many people networking feels easy and natural; for others networking just doesn’t seem to be a natural skill. I will send you a e-mail.
Warmest Regards,
Nancy

Thanks for sharing!
I’m getting out of ‘my story’ because it’s getting old. I’m a creative, ghost and freelance writer http://www.Savvy-Writer.com and love writing; I can’t shut it off. I’m also developing DEOR Consulting http://www.DEORConsulting.com and need to really focus on what I want to do with this teen/parent life coaching website/business.
I’m fortunate to be reading a yet unpublished work by someone who’s life is different from mine; however, we’ve both experienced the same things in life such as disappointment, frustration, etc. Her ‘story’ has helped me to realize where I mis-stepped in my life. I’m very grateful that I’m finally understanding how life works. It’s a great day!

Thank you so much for sharing Rebecca!
I know what you meant about not being able to shut off the writing – I love my writing, too!! I enjoy freelance writing for healthcare practitioners and others in the health and wellness industries. Creative writing is another area I have been ghost writing in. I think it is so wonderful for you that you have this opportunity to write a story…soon to be a published work of someone who’s life is different for yours and yet you’ve experienced some of life’s lessons on disappointment and frustration. Awhile back I was writing ghost writing for someone and I was fortunate enough to relate to the topic and experiences. It was a very therapeutic process for me – maybe you are able to feel a therapeutic process during this time.
Thanks again for sharing!
Warmly,
Nancy

Hi,
I like your story very much. It sort of reminds me of a part of my journey through life. The difference is that my drive for my Uber self actually ended my marriage. (That isn’t a complaint by the way, its just a fact. We are still the closest of friends)
When I was 16 years old I witnessed something that absolutely blew my mind, and ultimately something that changed my life completely.
At the time I used to work as an apprentice stone mason. I lived in North Yorkshire, England, which if you have never visited is one of the most breathtaking places in the world. (Check out Aysgarth falls on Google. This is one of the places I used to work, and also the place where Kevin Costner shot the stick fighting scene with Friar Tuck in Robin Hood)
As well as being an apprentice Stone Mason I used to box quite well at an amateur level in the ABA (Amateur Boxing Association) and at that time had never lost a fight. I was (and still am) very competitive. This is where the story really begins.
Then one day, as I was working on a piece of masonry at college with my other student colleagues one of my close friends demolished his piece of work with his feet. Literally kicked down a previously constructed masonry wall. I was taken aback to say the least and asked him what he was doing. He replied with some measure of pride in his voice that he was now training in karate.
After pestering him for weeks he finally gave in and invited me along to a lesson. This is when my mind was quite literally turned upside down. Here in this run down part of town, in a building I had never even known existed previously was a sight that took my breath away.
The building consisted of an entrance hallway with toilets either side of the main entrance door. A single sliding door then opened up into a time machine. Behind this door it looked like time had stood still for at least 150 years. The smells of the room told me of the rooms history, the sweat, the blood and the tears that had been ground into the polished floor.
I’m not sure if you have experienced that feeling before. Its just a knowledge a place without ever having been there. Wierd!
Anyway, as I waited outside in the entrance hall a man dressed in a karate suit approached me and asked, quite kindly what I was doing there. I explained that I was here to start karate because i’d seen my friend kick down a wall in front of the whole class at college. The guy remained expressionless. obviously not as impressed as I was at my friends remarkable feat.
He asked me to wait and he would go and ask Sensei. I waited, and I waited and I waited. Finally a Japanese man dressed in a karate suit and track suit top approached me. He enquired why I wanted to train in karate and I told him what I had seen and that I boxed and wiould like to be able to use my legs to kick.
Ok, he said, please sweep the floor of the dojo then please watch the class. Fair enough thought I, watching one class would be ok.
One month later I was still sweeping the floor before every lesson and I was still watching the class. I could have sat there until today if I was honest. What i saw in that room was nothing short of amazing. Sensei Kagawa as I was to find out was his name was unreal. the grace, the fluidity and the power this five foot 8 inch man could produce dumbfounded me completely.
Anyway – i’m sort of rambling now. Needless to say I started and I loved it. It changed my life completely. within a year I was training seven days a week, sometimes twice a day. I was extremely fit and I was learning something that seemed to have no end, apart from different coloured belts that seemed to come along every few months there seemed an infinate amount of extra stuff to learn. I was hooked completely.
After a time I became the top student in the club and It was my job to ask the newcomers what they wanted. I was winning almost every competition I entered and I would like to think I was making my sensei proud.
When Sensei announced that he had to return to Japan and would not be coming back the blow was almost physical to me.
I took over the club from that point and it was ok, my friend who had kicked down the wall had long gone. My protege at the time was very quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with in his own right and it would soon be time for me to hand over ther reigns to him. I wasn’t happy with my karate anymore after Sebsei left. I turned my attentions more towards work and ultimately I had to make a similar announcement to the class as my sensei had previously. I was moving to the south of the country and wouldn’t be coming back either.
My move was probably the best thing that happened to me in a lot of ways. Well, i’m still here!
When I moved I searched around for a little while to find a club I liked enough to stay at. Obviously nothing in my head could compare to my sensei so it was very hard for me to settle. And then it happened, I walked into a dojo one day and found what I was looking for. That same smell, that same history and authenticity about the place. I was home.
My new Sensei wasn’t Japanese, but he was trained as a personal student by one of the best in the world. He wasn’y as physically special as my sensei, but he could get the best from me. During this time of happyness and hhard training my wife walked into the dojo. She wasn’t my wife at the time as I had never seen her before, but we both knew then that she would be.
Four super years later we were married and had a son (Jacob, who is now 17 years old and my best friend) and my karate and career were going from strength to strength. I was now controlling building sites rather than working on them and I was approaching levels in my karate that i had only previously dreamed of. I had opened my own club too.
After much hard training the selections were being made for the United Kingdom team and my sensei asked me to put my name forward for the trials. I did, and I got in the team. And this is where my quest to be the best drove myself and my wife apart.
Basically, all of my time was spent either at work during the day, or training at night. Most weekends were spentt away from home travelling all over Europe and the world to compete in different torunaments.
I got what I wanted, but at what cost? I’m not using you as a sounding board for my sob story, I am just telling my story. I am happy now, I still teach karate and I have my own group of students that represent England at the moment. My ex wife is one of my best friends and very proud of the achievements I have made through karate.
No complaints. just my story.
Geoff
